Episode #88 – Flashback to ‘Laryngitis’ and ‘Dream On’

Hosted by Natalie Fisher, Caitlin Kelly, Mitchel Clow, and Jack Farrugia

September 21, 2014

Glee Chat is back for another riveting flashback episode while we get toward the end of the first season with Glee season 1, episode 18 “Laryngitis” and episode 19, “Dream On.”

-John’s not dead! We promise!
-Wow what we’re in four different time zones.

Glee season 1, episode 18 “Laryngitis”

-Natalie calls this one of the best episodes of Glee.
-And we’re really glad we didn’t cover “Bad Reputation.”
-Puckcedes works well together because of how kinetic Mercedes is.
-How in the world would Puck not know Mercedes’ name by now.
-We really like the Puck that Mercedes brings out in him.
-Do insane cliques exist like this in real American high schools?
-So Mitch had to eat onions to stay in his 6th grade clique.
-Burt is always there for Kurt, but Kurt always throws back the “because I’m gay” defense for everything.
-Kurt is slightly deluded and lives in a dream world.
-Was it alright for Kurt to get upset at Burt for asking Finn to do so many father/son activities?
-If Finn was still around to reign Rachel in, she’d be a much better ballanced character by this point.
-What the bloody hell is iCloud.
-U2 derail alert.
-We all seem to remember this episode in different ways than it aired.
-This episode of Glee Chat will force screaming haunted U2 songs to download on your mp3 player.
-Early Zices makes us happy.
-Puck was so awesomely relaxed during “The Lady Is A Tramp.”
-How do some pop culture icons bleed through from generation to generation?
-Kurt wasn’t even singing the proper lyrics for “Everything’s Coming Up Roses.”
-Everyone in Australia woke up like dis.

Glee season 1, episode 19, “Dream On”

-Neil Patrick Harris guest stars in this Joss Wheadon directed episode.
-Bryan Ryan was a really fun character! Here, here!
-Will shouldn’t have even tried out for the musical if he wanted Bryan to get back into theatre.
-Bryan and Terry would make an excellent ultimate bitch couple.
-Is Tina really to blame for pushing Artie too far?
-Rachel stated her three dream roles, one of which she’s already played.
-Why has Neil hosted the Tony Awards so often?
-Are Shelby and Jesse…
-“I Dreamed a Dream” is an awesome moment when taken out of context, but is a bit creepy when we think of how Shelby and Jesse needed to interact in such an inappropriate manner to achieve this moment.
-Puck is Rachel’s stepfather?!?!?!???
-“Safety Dance” has a really special importance in the tour.
-Natalie doesn’t like Joss for an admittedly legitimate reason.

-News is pretty spoilery, so stop reading/listening here if you don’t want to know what happens in season 6!
-Kitty is coming back! And upset at the grads?
-A bunch of new confirmed songs! Mitch gets excited at “Problem,” while Natalie and Jack are eagerly anticipating “Home.”
