Our show is dedicated to in-depth discussion about the Doctor Who universe: show and cast commentary, filming locations, rumors, tie-in video games/other products, spin-off series and more.

Don’t worry if you are trying to stay spoiler free for the upcoming series. We even have a specially marked spoiler section with a little help from River Song herself so listeners can skip around that information if they wish.

All four of our hosts from around the globe are back on this episode and it’s safe to say that we were blown away by the genius that is Steven Moffat.  Hypable’s regular Doctor Who writers, Laura Byrne-Cristiano and Harri Sargeant, lead the discussion with Jen Lamoreux and Natalie Fisher joining in.

– We start out with our instantaneous, gut reactions to the episode and all agree it’s a total thumbs up
– Next we proceed with discussing our favorite quotes from the episode
-After a brief plot summary we proceed with an in-depth discussion of:

  • Amy and Rory’s relationship
  • Jenna-Louise Coleman popping up unexpectedly and what this might mean without entering into spoilers
  • Things you might have missed on first glance
  • How is Doctor Who canon affected? What are the implications of possible fixed points in time. Is the question “Doctor Who?” more charged with meaning than ever?

– Moving into our news we discuss

  • 50th anniversary plans
  • What we thought of Pond Life
  • John Barrowman’s Arrow casting and what it means for Torchwood

Our spoilers cover:

  • Filming at Cardiff University and general Christmas episode filming
  • Jenna-Lousie Coleman’s appearance and how it may contract what we thought we knew as fact given spoilers.

As we say in the show, our listeners are the most important thing to us. We want you hear from you. What do you want us to discuss?

*runs to download* well this was nice to wake up to :)

Here’s a crackpot theory for you: Take a look at the chair Jenna-Louise Coleman was sitting in throughout the episode, it was the same one that the Doctor’s daughter, Jenny, sat in in the ship she took off in in “The Doctor’s Daughter.” Do you think Jenna-Louise Coleman could be regenerated Jenny, or is BBC just reusing an old prop?

    • belac889

did you get that from the doctor who wiki

    • LauraBC

I’m going to vote BBC recycle on this one. In fact I was just rewatching The Rebel Flesh the other day where they clearly reworked the Torchwood medical lab int the set. I think even the Dalek would realize it if they have someone with Time Lord DNA on their planet, and I don’t exactly see Jenny as an entertainment officer on a passenger ship

  • gfludal

Did you guys see the white orb right before the planet blew up? (lower right side of the planet) I didn’t notice it first, but I really think that is related to Oswin and a possible escape.

You also talked about Hannah, the daughter of the woman in the start of the episode. When Amy was groggy and saw the daleks as humans, I thought that the ballerina girl was Hannah. So maybe she was the woman’s daughter converted to a dalek?

    • LauraBC

I spent a good deal of time freeze framing it on the hi-def yesterday. I have to say I’m unsure, but a good item up for discussion next show!

  • Jennifer S

There’s so many possibilities for crazy theories. I’ll shamelessly plug my new blog for discussing theories here:
I’d appreciate it if you maybe mentioned it on the show or if people here on hypable checked it out.

  • Maria Wang

I love the theories you guys came up with.

  • Kyle Ellison

You should get Selina on the show!

    • Selina

      Hahaha, I agree!

  • Codey White

Just listened to the episode which was my first btw. Officially hooked. Can’t wait for the next.

  • Matthew Potter

Listening to you guys formulate the Nutcracker theory and stuff was hilarious. Natalie’s “Hold on, I just formed a whole world from that” was brilliant. Haha.

Hello :) I am loving this podcast more and more. I am a huge anti-spoiler type of girl, so I really like it, that you have a seperate spoiler section :D I am just confused to when i should jump to… you said timecode :1 minute and 23 seconds? When is that? Sorry if that’s a stupid question… And would you in advance mind saying sth like… this is the end of spoiler section and then go on? Just a suggestion…

    • LauraBC

Yep the time code is the jump to avoid the spoiler section and to pick up when that closes. Generally speaking we run the show in the order of: intros, show recap and discussion(if applicable), news, spoilers, listener feedback, show closing. This week it was a jump to the show closing because we didn’t do listener feedback, but next week we will.

“Clara. The Nutcracker. You’re a genius.” Best moment of the show

  • peoriapole

Oswin is a super genius, so she probably figured out a way to protect herself, and will also figure out a way to reverse engineer her assimilation now that she knows the real situation…and then scare the hell out of the Doctor…

  • Julie Houchin Guroff

I can’t find anything on IMDB or John Barrowman’s website saying that he has been cast in “Arrow”. Do you have a link showing that this is true?

  • Matt

not sure if you read old shows but thought I would throw this out there.

I’m not sure why I thought of this, but I started wondering about the timeline of Oswin/Clara and realized that this was a bit out of place.

I am assuming that Amy and Rory are in “current” time with the viewers, so around 2012. They are kidnapped and transported to the Dalek ship. The Doctor could have been anywhen, so that doesn’t bother me. When they are sent to the planet, they find a ship called the Alaska…so we have to assume that this is a much later time in Earths future.

So, when did the Daleks get time travel?
