man both shows blowed my mind this week i can’t believe alaric is behind everything and the cassie adam curse and it was adams dad all i can say is WOW

  • Theaterboy1

You know, if Nick does come back I’m wondering if he might be possessed, like he comes back but he is possessed by something. Someone is using his body to harness his magic or something. Just a thought. I do hope he comes back though, I really liked Nick. I have been thinking that Melissa could be the other Blackwell child, that would be interesting.

    • Misswriter18

If Nick comes back, it could be that he isn’t himself. Not necessarily possessed, but that death changed him. Often when people come back from the dead, there’s a change in their personality… I guess I am thinking back to Practical Magic a bit too much (I hope someone knows what I’m talking about haha). :P I loved Nick, and if he does come back, I hope he isn’t totally crazy.

It felt so nice to be able to watch these two shows after such a frustrating hiatus.

The Vampire Diaries: Oh.My.Gosh. Wow. I loved the flashback to 1912. Seeing Damon becoming the Damon we know now was great. The fact that Damon blames himself for Stefan’s issues was quite interesting and changes my opinion of Damon considerably.

I still think it’s possible that Meredith isn’t what she seems. Why did she have that diary and why does she know so much about all this stuff?

I don’t think Jeremy’s ring will do the same thing as Alaric’s. I have a feeling it is something within Alaric’s ring that is causing these problems. Perhaps it has to do with the people who wore it before… Or simply the frequency with which he uses it. I don’t know. I do think the ring issue will give us a reason to see Jeremy again.

The Secret Circle: So now love-making activates a curse!? WHAT!?

While it seems slightly less likely that Eva is the other Blackwell child now, I still think it is a possibility. However, I don’t think I’d put money down on that prediction. :P

Cassie has been getting on my nerves lately. I prefer Faye’s storyline to Cassie’s. And Blackwell has gotten my attention after he failed to do so in his intro episode. Gosh, the acting was superb. I agree Laura, we need more Joe Lando!!

You know, I don’t think the make-up team is applying liner to Thomas Dekker, I think it’s actually heavy mascara. It is definitely ridiculous. I don’t think they’ve really toned it down….

I think Meredith had the the Diary cos she’s a founding family member and just happened to find it. Then Alaric told her about his ring and she put 2 and 2 together and realized his ring was the same as the one in the diary.

Yes the love-making curse is very Angel-Buffy universe, isn’t it?

I think Cassie’s awesome. This show needs a BAMF and Cassie’s the only one who’ll step up to the plate and kick some ass. Why does everyone hate LJ Smith’s main characters. First Elena’s too docile and judgment and now Cassie’s annoying for throwing herself into the fray. MAKE UP YOUR MIND PEOPLE!!!

      • Misswriter18

I think I dislike the main characters because of the acting. I don’t believe Cassie’s emotional outbursts half the time, and Elena…well…  Nina Dobrev does better as Katherine than she does as Elena.

In the end, I feel like Blackwell will be the BAMF in The Secret Circle,  and at least I’d believe him. Cassie isn’t believable.

        • Gary65

What emotional outbursts has she been having that were so unbelievable?

As for Elena, I think everyone is so infatuated with the Salvatores, that they’re projecting their dislike onto Elena. If you actually keep things in perspective, there’s nothing wrong with Elena.

I am very intrigued about the curse put on Cassie and Adam’s family. That definitely was not in the book…I wonder if John had something to do with it (I like blaming him) or maybe someone in his bloodline. BTW, he paired off couples in the parents’ group to ensure powerful offsprings so that he could use them as weapons; it’s also why he paired himself up with Cassie’s mom because her family was the strongest.

  • Gary65

Mrs. Lockwood said that loads of trees were cut down in the 1900s to build the town. This would suggest that the White Oak tree is now part of on of the structures in the town. Maybe Rebekah will try burning Mystic Falls to the ground to get rid of it. I wouldn’t put it past her.

I think there’s more to this whole ring thing. It sounds a bit odd that it’s driving people insane and forcing them to kill founders. That’s incredibly specific. I’d say it’s more likely a ghost of some description is inhabiting the ring and taking over the wearer’s body. It’s possessing them. Sounds kind of silly that it drives people crazy and forces them all to do the same thing. People’s psyche’s aren’t that uniform.

Speaking of the ring, according to Dr. Fell, the ring slowly drives you crazy each time it resurrects you. In order for it to resurrect you, you must be killed by a supernatural being. By the Salvatore Bros own admission, there were no vamps left in Mystic Falls in 1912. Thus begs the question, what supernatural beings were going around killing Samantha Gilbert again and again to drive her ring nuts? There must have been some other supernatural being in Mystic Falls at the time. Unless of course, Sage has been there for a few months and had killed the same woman again and again and not noticed xD

Given that Emily created the rings, it’s fairly clear Bonnie will be called on next ep to see WTF is going on.

And the never-ending quest to neuter all of Chance Harbour’s witches continues. Why is it that no one will use magic? The parent’s lost their’s, Blackwell lost his and now he’s telling Cassie not to use her’s. Ugh. You’re witches damnit. Act like it.

I’m confused about Eva. Lee was so surprised she had power and he was talking about how he would help fix whatever happened to her. The way he said it, it sounds like she didn’t have magic before she OD’d. So what is she? Did Lee’s totem steal Faye’s magic on a more permanent basis than he intended?

  • Gary65

How many times must it be repeated? THE BLACKWELL CHILD IS IN THE CIRCLE. Eva is not a Circle member and therefore cannot be the Blackwell child. There are only 6 candidates:

Nick, Jake, Adam, Faye, Diana, Melissa.

    That. Is. ALL!!!

    • Tony

When did they say that the other blackwell child was in the circle? I don’t remember that…

      • Gary65

Isaac did. When he told Jake about the other Blackwell child, he said:

“Cassie Blake is not the only child of Blackwell in the Circle.”

        Thus, it cannot be Eva.

        • Tony

Oh, guess I completly forgot that.. Thank you!
Well, I guess that limits it to one of the girls, doesn’t it. The CW wouldn’t have Cassie making out with Adam and Jake if one of them was her half-brother.
I hope it is Melissa. Faye is too obvious, Diana seems to ‘pure’, and I want Melissa to be more than just the girl who lost her boyfriend.

          • Gary65

I want it to be Nick. Then some uber demon can resurrect and possess him in season 2.

          • http://www.facebook.com/laurabyrnecristiano Laura Byrne Cristiano

Except that that Jake is in the circle and he wasn’t around when it was bound. He was in by virtue of him being Nick’s brother. So in theory the same could work for a half sibling of Cassie’s

          • Gary65

That’s true. But then that would Eva is bound too and shouldn’t be able to use magic. And Cassie only tapped into her dark magic cos her life was under threat and then, once she realized it was there and became more experienced with it, she could use it freely. So, if Eva is the Blackwell child, who helped her access her dark magic? If dark magic could be accessed without having previous experience in the use of magic, why didn’t Cassie use it to save herself when Faye trapped her in her car and set it alight in the pilot?

This is all beside the fact that Eva is way too creepy. I really don’t like her and her being the Blackwell child would mean she has to hang around for a while. Having it be someone who isn’t a member of the established circle just feels like a copout.

  • Tony

    Hey, great episode, thanks!

The discussion about the Elena/Caroline/Bonnie relationship was interesting, but I don’t agree with the assessment that Elena is totally innocent when it comes to the Salvatore’s actions. True, she can’t stop their actions, she is not to blame for them being willing to sacrifice everybody for her.
But she could stop encouraging them by going back to them, no matter what they do. I get that she loves them; but if somebody keeps on killing the people you love so that they can selfishly keep you around, you can’t just scold them and then return to acting like nothing happened. You have to cut your losses and side with the victims of it all. I guess the triangle is to important to the show to break it up, so it will stay, but I would love if Elena told the Salvatore brothers to leave her in peace if they can’t stop killing her family or her friends families.

Regarding the Secret Circle Books, because you brought up Ethan/Amelia and the curse. The plot-line doesn’t exist. In the books Cassie and Adam are just magically drawn to one another, linked by fate, but it has nothing to do with their families and they aren’t cursed. Amelia loved John before she found out that he was evil, he did not cheat on her (no second Blackwell child), Ethan does not exist.
Also, the parents were being paired of by John because he wanted them to have the best magical offspring. His plan was to build a new circle with the younger generation that was more powerful and completely under his control. He failed regarding the control part because part of the parents figured out his plan and temporarily defeated him at the cost of their own lives.
They changed a lot of things from book to tv show, it’s difficult to
judged how much of the book plot can still be used without creating
    contradictions…

I’m not sure that Eva existing means that she is the second Blackwell child. She could be, but maybe she is just a tool to bring Faye’s character further along?

And I hope that Grant is just the nice guy he appears to be, I miss having one ‘normal’ human around, and I love Diana and want her to be happy.

  • EmilyZitterkopf

Hey it was me who suggested it was Jeremy!! Too bad my reasoning was a bit off but this week proves that it probably isn’t him.  This week was realllllly great and so scary. Next week looks FANTASTIC!

  • Alicia

I think the writers have a bit of a continuity issue- Sage shouldn’t have been able to get into the Salvatore’s house because she wasn’t invited in by Elena… didn’t they sign it over to her in season 2 so that vampires couldn’t get in?
