Episode #31 – Roxanne VS Nationals

Hosted by Mitchel Clow, John Thrasher, Roxanne Clark, Natalie Fisher

May 16, 2012

Part two of Hypable’s recap of Glee’s two-hour special is here! Natalie, Mitch, and resident show choir member Roxanne all join in for their take on Glee 3 x 21 “Nationals!”

The anticipation was rising amongst the Glee club, with fights on the verge of breaking out left and right! Mitch comments how odd it was that Will thought them fighting like this would lead to good things.

– Quinn is back dancing rather soon! Although we did get to see her struggling to adapt to dancing in one scene, she seemed completely fine in all others!
-Jesse makes another appearance as Vocal Adrenaline coach, leading on to an interesting discussion on how his character has a changed quite a bit after an incident where two Glee episodes switched places with each other (remember how odd that egg scene with Rachael was?).
– Roxanne beings her stint on how unrealistic everything Glee does in competitions is, especially noting that typically, a show choir will perform and perfect one performance throughout an entire year.
– Perez Hilton and Lindsay Lohan guest star as judges, while also playing themselves. We discuss the interesting dynamic between the celebrity gossip and tabloid queen.
– New Directions performed Lady Gaga’s “Edge of Glory,” which according to Roxanne, “almost every show choir did this year.” Did Glee writers put this in because of that?
– The first Vocal Adrenaline song “Starships” was pretty good, but the second song, “Pinball Wizard,” was pretty boring.
– All of the sudden, the Glee Club is welcomed by everyone at McKinley High-even Rick the Stick!
– Now that the Glee kids have won the Nationals title…what’s next?
– An interesting conversation about Greek mythology and Emma’s reasoning for sleeping with Will at the end of this episode occurs between Natalie and Mitch.
– Natalie discusses how a teacher hugging students in her school in Australia would not be allowed, while John provides an example of a time when hugging a teacher was acceptable while teaching English in Italy.
– The co-hosts all develop their own opinions about when/whether or not Beist should leave/should have left Cooter.
– Conversations ebb off of each other, leading into odd connections between Glee, The Amazing Spiderman, and other superhero related nonsense.
– The news this episode covers another Britney Spears tribute episode in the works for season 4, and this batch of co-hosts’ reactions to Glee’s time and day change. Also, we crown Glee Chat fan of the week to Hpfanatic! Congrats!
