I’m a little confused here. You’re all harsh critics of Nightmare Before Christmas, yet you’ve mentioned in the past that you’re fans of The Simpsons. That doesn’t make any sense. If anything, of the two, the one we should be criticizing is Simpsons.

    • Morgan Burt Stradling

Well, Chelsea and I at least grew up with the Simpsons. We’re really only fans until season 10, when it started to go downhill.

Like I said before, I actually liked Nightmare a LOT more this time around than in the past. Not sure what changed. Unfortunately, I think just due to past experiences with the film, I still don’t love it. And I do think that it was just random chance/coincidence that the three of didn’t like the film. I think if you took a poll of a bigger set of animation/Disney fans, you would find that film ranks very high.

  • Alana O’Brien

I love you guys normally…but my god. Your reeeealy need to get more diverse animation tastes on your show. Your obv very hardcore Disney fans which is great…but what else do you love? Stating that all fans of The Nightmare Before Christmas are goths, i actually cringed. I am an animator in ireland, and am in no way a goth, im just a regular joe. The nightmare before christmas holds a special place in peoples hearts because it is a MASTERPIECE of film making. Yous should open your mind to non-disney princess animation films.

    • Morgan Burt Stradling

Thanks, Alana for your feedback. Yeah, I was thinking we should cut the “goth” discussion because I didn’t think it entirely rang true (I think I even disagreed with Mason on that point he was making). So I agree with you there. It showed a lack of discretion on our part.

You’re right that we are Disney fans (who isn’t? ha), but we really do love all other types of animation as well. That’s really the main reason we didn’t just do a Disney animation podcast, but rather a general animation podcast. We do a lot of Disney episodes because that’s what we get TONS of requests for. So in a way, we’re catering to part of our audience. Here’s a random example: our Rango episode is our LEAST downloaded ever, despite being out for a long time. It’s really sad because that movie was incredible!) We know that we are no means experts, just a group of friends who have opinions and like to talk. But we’ll definitely do more non-princessy movies in the future.

Anyways, thanks for the support of the show, Alana! :)
