An Ember in the Ashes discussion:
-Would we buy, borrow or not bother with this book?
-First thing’s first: How do you say “Laia”?
-What did we think about the structure of the book?
-Elias’ chapters were more exciting for us than Laia’s.
-The supernatural elements were very well balanced. Thanks, Augers.
-We discuss the sexism against female characters within the book.
-We are Team Helene! Could we get a point of view chapter from her going forward?
-Who else is an ember in the ashes? Everyone? At this point, something is on fire.
-Is the Commandant redeemable, and does it matter?
-The Resistance were so disappointing, but it was intentional.
-Will we be reading the next book in this series?
-Basically, this book is about freedom and power, and really awful people.
-The book has already been optioned for a film, and no one is surprised.
Our June book will be Undertow by Michael Buckley.
