Fandoms will be colliding in Doctor Who‘s ninth season when Game of Thrones actor Paul Kaye will appear in a two-part episode.
Kaye, who plays Thoros on Game of Thrones, will be joining Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman in a creepy two-part episode which will be written by Toby Whithouse. It’s important to note that while Doctor Who is currently filming, this two-part episode is not the premiere of the ninth season and we’ve yet to find out when this episode will air.
When asked about the opportunity, Kaye responded, “As a kid of the 1970’s, the two shows you always watched were Top of the Pops and Doctor Who, they were unmissable. I actually wrote a song called ‘Looking for Davros’ in my first punk band and I sang it like a demented Dalek.
“I got to present TOTP back in the mid ‘90s and landing this role in Doctor Who completes the dream double. Peter is a perfect Doctor and I’m loving every minute of the experience, even the five hours in make-up. What a treat, best 50th birthday present ever!”
And it looks like this two-part episode is going to be quite the event. The list of stars so far announced for the (as of now) untitled episode includes Morven Christie, Arsher Ali, Colin McFarlane, Steven Robertson, Neil Fingleton, Zaqi Ismail, Sophie Stone, and more we’re sure are going to be announced later.
What kind of two parter will this be? According to show creator Steven Moffat it’s going to be quite the creepy one. “An amazing guest cast for a brilliantly creepy two-parter by Toby Whithouse,” he said. “Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman are back in Cardiff, back in the box, and back in action for one of our scariest adventures yet!”
We’re extremely curious what kind of monster Whithouse has come up with for one of their “scariest” adventures, because let’s face it… some of the creatures from last season were pretty damn scary.
