Once Upon a Time season 5 will air a two-hour special focusing on Merida, Mulan, and Ruby this November as well as take a dive into Hook’s past!
Once Upon a Time held a panel at New York Comic Con today where attendees were treated to a screening of episode 3, “Siege Perilous,” and plenty of exciting news about the remainder of season 5. Here are a few things we learned this afternoon!
Power of the ladies
The women of Once Upon a Time some of toughest characters on primetime television today. The Queens of Darkness ruled the realm last season, but for season 5, the writers are giving a new group of leading ladies the chance to shine. Merida, Mulan, and Ruby will be the center of a two-hour episode this November. The highly anticipated return of two fan-favorites combined with the fiery newcomer to the Once Upon a Time world certainly makes a case for must-see television.
Little Hook is coming to ‘Once Upon a Time’
Put away your fanfiction, the Captain’s backstory is finally coming to Once Upon a Time season 5! Announced today, the search is on to cast Hook’s father to play opposite a young Killian. After three seasons, fans have only ever gotten as far back as Killian and his brother heading to Neverland. It is high time we dove into the wildly popular pirate’s backstory and see how he and his brother became the seafaring lads we met in season 3!

Henry’s heading for heartbreak
Having your mother succumb to Darkness is one thing. Having your heart broken by your first crush is another. The creators teased today that of all the romances that take place this season, Henry’s will be the most heartbreaking. What does that mean? Does Violet have to leave Storybrooke forever? Can Henry never return to Camelot? He’s the Author, surely there is some kind of trick he can maneuver for his own happy ending!
Someone dies in Camelot
Friendly reminder — in order for a curse to be cast someone’s heart needs to be crushed. Are you quickly doing an inventory of who made it back to Storybrooke following the curse? Because we certainly are! Emma blames Regina and the entire town for the outcome of the still unknown events in Camelot. So what happened to drive Emma to kill in order to cast the latest curse?
Is the Dark Swan arc getting you more and more excited with each passing week? We certainly are looking forward to learning much more as this season unfolds!
Watch Once Upon a Time season 5, episode 3, “Siege Perilous,” Sunday, October 11 at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
