Not everyone is heading away for a beach vacation. See how the Once Upon a Time cast is spending their well deserved break this year.
What would you do after filming 24 episodes of television over 9 months? Probably head to a beach and catch up on some much needed sleep. The Once Upon a Time cast and creators are certainly not taking any time for rest or relaxation. From independent films, to highly anticipated cult sequels, to sleepaway camp and family time, the cast and crew of Once Upon a Time are not wasting a single second.
Who is brewing up some beer? Who is changing their look? And who can you expect to see at your local convention? Here’s what some of the summer plans for the cast and crew look like.
Bros and Brews
Although our favorite archer met his demise in the series this season, Sean Maguire is not quite done with Robin Hood just yet. In a series of Instagram videos, Maguire has been giving an insider’s look at the process of the beer brewing process for his and co-star Colin O’Donoghue’s personal brand– By Hook or By Crook. The brew has been in process for a while and this is our first in depth look at their involvement. It seems these two can’t do anything apart, including die in the series. Unfortunately for this crook Only one death stuck. For now.
In addition to enjoying the fruits of his labor, Maguire is also hitting some of the conventions with pals Michael Coleman (Happy), Beverley Elliott (Granny), and Rebecca Mader (Zelena).
Burgers and ‘Sun Dogs’
It may seem like Jennifer Morrison is enjoying a nice BBQ, but she is hard at work directing her first film under her very own production company, Apartment 3C Productions. The film, Sun Dogs is a comedy with some big names on the bill. Recent Supergirl sensation Melissa Benoist joins legends Ed O’Neill and Alison Janney, with Michael Angarano as the lead. Morrison does have time for a break in between calling the shots.
The synopsis from Deadline reads, “Young misfit, Ned (Angarano), in his repeated failed attempts to join the Marines and serve his country. When his last interview fails, he takes a Marine officer’s advice to “protect the homefront” a little too seriously, and sets his sights on a casino manager who may or may not be a terrorist mastermind. In trying to uncover this “terrorist cell,” he enlists the help of a young runaway, Tally (Benoist), forming the most unlikely possible anti-terrorism unit in a story of love, friendship and homeland security.”
Baby Time
Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas have another baby in tow for their summer break this year. In addition to the Charmings, new mom Emilie De Ravin has little daughter Vera in tow on her travels this summer. She too will be stopping by the conventions with Maguire and others while enjoying some family time as well!
‘Dead of Summer’
Adam Horowitz and Eddie Kitsis are out on the road promoting their new series on Freeform, Dead of Summer. Camp Stillwater is about to be reopened by former counselor Deb, played by Elizabeth Mitchell, and a crew of former campers now old enough to serve as counselors. But Camp Stillwater is not the ideal summer getaway and soon everyone will discover its dark secrets. You can check out Dead of Summer Tuesday, June 28 at 9:00 p.m. ET on Freeform.
A sequel 20 years in the making
Independence Day is not the only 20 year sequel making waves this summer. In Scotland a group of actors are reuniting to film Trainspotting 2. Robert Carlyle has ditched his Rumpel locks and reattached Begbie’s signature stache to reprise his role as the man who can not get through a single line of dialogue without dropping the f-word. You may know most of the major players who include Jonny Lee Miller, Ewan McGregor and Ewen Bremner. One notable actor, Kevin McKidd (Owen Hunt, Grey’s Anatomy) will not be joining his old heroine pals since he died of an overdose in the first film.
