Nintendo is still unsure on what the next Zelda game will be though they are pretty sure Retro Studios will not be working on it.
The company is wavering between a remake of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for 3DS and remaking Majora’s Mask, Shigeru Miyamoto told IGN.
“We haven’t quite decided yet, whether we’re going to do A Link to the Past, because there’s also the possibility of doing a remake of Majora’s Mask,” said Miyamoto. “This is something we’ve certainly been talking about and doing a little bit of experimenting with, to figure out which way we’re going to go.”
Miyamoto said that with the dual goals of expanding the 3DS lineup and building the Wii U’s, there will be “lots of good opportunities in terms of thinking about which Zelda game is going to be best for which purpose.”
Whatever Nintendo does decide on, Retro Studios is probably not the developer doing the job. “Retro is very busy right now, but I’m afraid I can’t say exactly what it is that they’re very busy [working] on,” Miyamoto told IGN.
However, just because the studio is busy now doesn’t mean they won’t have a chance in the future. Miyamoto says the thought is “not out of the question” but that it would be difficult to coordinate with the Zelda team at Nintendo.
What are you hoping for out of the next Zelda title? Now that we can cross off the series from Retro’s list, what do you hope they are working on?
