Three new screenshots have been released from The Legend of Korra season 3, displaying characters in states of serenity and hilarious alarm.

Show co-creator, Bryan Konietzko, continues to do his part in easing the lingering wait for The Legend of Korra season 3. As has become his much-appreciated tradition, Konietzko has recently posted new screenshots from the ongoing production on “Book 3: Change.”

The first images were posted earlier this week, and focus on Tenzin’s daughter, Jinora (voiced by Kiernan Shipka of Mad Men.)

“Here are some peaceful, meditative stills of Jinora from Book 3,” Konietzko wrote. “I really love these delicate, organic paintings by [animation] Studio Mir.”

Though Jinora was only a minor character in the first season of The Legend of Korra, her role grew in “Book 2: Spirits” as she discovered her strong connection to the spirit world. It looks like she will continue to be prominent in The Legend of Korra season 3.

The newest image posted by Konietzko lands on the opposite end of the emotional spectrum. The screenshot features Korra, Asami, Mako, and Bolin, all of whom are frozen in a state of considerable alarm. It’s… not a great look for them.

It’s hard to speculate on why the Korra Krew – still apparently working together, even after last season’s emotional roller coaster – are so perturbed. Presumably Konietzko knows, but he merely commented that the hair-raising image “seems like a good one for the caption game.”

With that, we agree.

News on The Legend of Korra season 3 has been predictably scant recently, though the fandom did experience some real excitement with the release of an accidental trailer for Book 3 from Norway. No release date has yet been announced for the season, though it does appear that work on the new season is winding down.

In other news for The Legend of Korra and Avatar: The Last Airbender, Bryan Konietzko reaffirmed that, as with “Book 1: Air,” an art book will be produced for Korra’s second season. In addition, part one of the new Avatar: The Last Airbender graphic novel sequence, titled “The Rift,” has been released in comic book stores. The three-part story, written by Gene Luen Yang, will be released for general booksellers on March 18.
