As Disneyland prepares to open its remake of the Tower of Terror themed to Guardians of the Galaxy, The Rock has announced that he’s teaming up with Disney Parks worldwide to redo The Jungle Cruise.
In an Instagram post on Saturday, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson announced that he’d just finished visiting with Disney Parks and is beginning work on a new Jungle Cruise ride. As you may recall, The Rock is currently working on a Jungle Cruise movie with Disney that he’ll star in.
“We’ll partner with Disney’s brilliant Imagineers to help re-engineer and re-design the #JungleCruise ride in all the Disney theme parks around the world,” The Rock wrote in a lengthy Insta post. “A very special opportunity for us and our @sevenbucksprod to create an unforgettable and fun EXPERIENCE for families around the world. And as Walt Disney himself would say… it’s magical.”
It remains to be seen just how big of a revamp The Jungle Cruise will be getting, but based on The Rock’s comments, it sounds pretty significant. I’ll go ahead and guess that his character in the new Jungle Cruise movie will be involved in the new ride.
Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise has been part of the park since the very beginning, opening on July 17, 1955. The ride has been largely unchanged in the 62 years it’s been in operation. It’s always been known for its animal animatronics and the skippers who offer bad puns along your river tour.
We here at Hypable are bummed that Disney feels the need to rebrand classic rides.
