Cult, the new CW drama starring The Vampire Diaries actor Matt Davis, will be premiering later than expected: in February 2013.
While the show was always planned as a midseason show, Cult was originally scheduled to premiere in January. But Digital Spy has now learned that it will premiere on The CW on Tuesday, February 19 at 9/8c.
The new thriller drama from Farscape creator Rockne S O’Bannon and Chuck showrunner Josh Schwartz stars CW vets Matt Davis (The Vampire Diaries) and Alona Tal (Supernatural), along with Jessica Lucas and Robert Knepper.
Davis plays Jeff Sefton, a journalist who begins to investigate a murder which happens on the set of the TV series Cult. It all sounds very meta!
Previewing the series, Davis has previously told Wetpaint that he is very excited to be doing something quite different from The Vampire Diaries. “It’s not supernatural, which is great. It’s purely psychological,” he says. Talking about his character, Davis explains that, “he’s a journalist; he’s tonally very different than Alaric. The burden is very different. The purpose is very different, so it will be fun to facilitate a different role than Alaric.”
The CW will also be premiering the highly anticipated Sex and the City prequel series The Carrie Diaries in early 2013.
What do you think about the new shows that premiered on The CW this year? Are you looking forward to the two new additions?
