If Netflix wasn’t already your go-to streaming service for movies and TV shows, the ability to watch their content offline should push you to subscribe.
Netflix has just eradicated the one downside to streaming: The service announced Wednesday that its subscribers are now able to download content to their Android and Apple devices for viewing on the go, which is a huge boon for travelers and commuters.
Now, you can literally take Netflix with you in your pocket (and that iPhone/iPad app will probably start getting a lot more mileage), and you don’t need to rely on hotspots or crappy public wifi to get you your Stranger Things fix.

When traveling, you can bring Netflix on the plane or train — just don’t watch it while driving your car!
Here’s the very welcome announcement from Netflix:

It’ll be really nice to cut out the middleman and have access to Netflix content (as long as it’s pre-loaded) before going off the grid. Although wifi and even data plans are very widespread, there are still many situations where you really wish you could just load up something to watch on the Internet and simply aren’t able to.
Netflix isn’t the only consumer giant that’s picking up on users’ on-the-go media habits. Nintendo recently announced that its new gaming console, the Switch, will be specifically designed for portable use, an entire gaming platform in your pocket.
Commuters and people who travel frequently should be thrilled at these accommodating technological developments.
Note: You’ll need to update your Netflix app before this feature works, and then a download button should appear on the movie/TV show’s feature page.
