It’s been two weeks since we had a new Nashville but for the show it’s been two months. Let’s get caught up!
At the airport, Luke is ready to do a whole lotta nothing with Rayna and their family. Will is not looking forward to getting back to married life. Something is up with Deacon and Pam, and this reviewer isn’t sorry about that one bit.
Meanwhile, Rayna is performing on Dancing with the Stars for country night! And she’s singing her brand new bonus track, which if you remember she didn’t have written when she accepted the gig.
Juliette is now in her second trimester and at a doctor’s appointment with Avery. Those two are clearly barely holding it together being in the same room as they disagree on just about everything the doctor brings up. The subject of Lamaze is a bit too intimate for Avery and Juliette is obviously offended.
Will shows up at Gunnar and Zooey’s house and apparently everyone freely knows that Micah is Gunnar’s son. Scarlett is also on a writing spree and while Deacon is too, we learn that Pam is over (YES) because what works on the road generally doesn’t work at home.
Rayna, who was supposed to get a one page story in Rolling Stone, now has the opportunity to be on the cover due to another artist falling out. Bucky pushes, saying this rarely happens for country stars, and so now Luke and Rayna’s quiet weekend at home will be a behind the scenes cover story. This can’t go wrong!
Avery is buying a crib while Juliette is waiting to hear back from Rayna about her new tracks and finds out she is at the Highway 65 offices. She heads over there and tries to be the old Juliette buts ends up venting about her lack of relationship with Avery and it’s honestly nice to see these two be kinda friends. More of this! Deacon gets a call from the reporter and promptly turns him down.
Juliette feels the baby kicking and breaks down again. She asks Emily to be her birthing partner. She’s takes Rayna’s advice and uses her feelings to write a new song, which sounds awesome, just as Avery comes over with the crib. These two are still in love! GAH. Emily goes over and talks to Avery about being more involved. He asks how she is and after he finds out how badly she is having it, he shows up the next day for the private Lamaze session and maybe starts reconciling with Juliette. YAY!
At their cake tasting, the reporter is there too and Luke is pissed. He is asking pretty simple questions about who is coming (Tammy, Teddy, the entire Nashville music scene) and Luke gets fed up and goes outside. They fight and are interrupted by the reporter. They pull it together and head home where they find Maddie kissing her soon to be step-brother. Meanwhile Pam came over to see how Deacon is doing and ends up staying for dinner. They talk about how Rayna is Deacon’s life.
Rayna heads back to talk to the reporter to try and get him to not write about Maddie. He won’t drop it so she tells him she will talk about Deacon. He pointedly asks if Deacon hadn’t relapsed would they be together now instead of her and Luke. She heads home, tells Luke she had to go places she didn’t want to go but he’s grateful for her protecting the kids. They have a fake wedding dance.
In stories that we are supposed to care about: Scarlett’s homeless friend comes back and he’s not homeless anymore. He is in a shelter now. His family died on their way to see him years ago. Scarlett googles him and of course has been a big fan of his and she convinces him to sing at the Bluebird. He convinces Scarlett to sing with him.
Will and Layla actually make nice and agree to go see her play her new music. Gunnar and Zooey use this as their date night. The song is obviously written about Will and their messed up relationship and it gets too much for Will so he gets up and leaves. Later Gunnar finds out the Kylie never told her new boyfriend that she had a kid. Gunnar ends up telling her to stay in Nashville.
That night, Will and Layla’s show debuts and it’s not fun for the two. Will finds Layla freaking out. The producer lady comes out and basically evil laughs in their faces and tells them that they signed contracts. The next morning, Kylie is late to pick up Micah and instead of being on her way, she abandons her son with Gunnar and Zooey.
Next week, it looks like Luke finds out just how far Rayna had to go to keep their kids safe from that reporter. Check back later in the week for upcoming Nashville news!
