A succinct description of Marvel’s Most Wanted has been released, but mysteries still swirl around the developing series.
The logline for Most Wanted immediately plunks Bobbi and Hunter down into extremely dire — and by definition, desperate — circumstances.
“Centers on Bobbi Morse (a.k.a. Mockingbird) and Lance Hunter of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., two ex-spies and ex-spouses who are on the run with no friends, no S.H.I.E.L.D. and a long list of enemies looking to claim a bounty on their heads,” the summary says.
“Able to trust no one but each other, Bobbi and Hunter form an uneasy alliance with Dominic Fortune, a rogue adventurer with a wealth of resources and even more adversaries, who agrees to protect them so long as they help him with his own agenda. These two heroes will help anyone in need, all while trying to uncover the conspiracy that put their own lives in jeopardy.”
Perhaps most unnerving, the Most Wanted synopsis seems wholly disconnected from Hunter and Bobbi’s circumstances at the mid-season finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3. Mockingbird and her mercenary may have had their differences with S.H.I.E.L.D.; they have mucked up a mission now and again, or may have kept a few secrets tucked away for themselves.
But it’s hard to imagine what kind of conspiracy could break the bonds of friendship and loyalty that have, without question, grown up between Bobbi, Hunter, and Coulson’s crew. Clearly, in addition to all the excitement of un-Ward and the Secret Warriors, the back half of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 has some serious drama to set up for Most Wanted.
Marvel’s Most Wanted will be written and run by Jeff Bell and Paul Zbyszewski, both of whom come from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. And for their part, the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. showrunners seem eager for the expansion of Marvel stories on the small screen.
“We’re very excited about the new show,” says Jed Whedon, adding that Most Wanted will not necessarily be the end of Bobbi and Hunter on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
“They’ll have to step away for a moment,” Whedon teases. “We’re very proud of that moment.”
