The Maleficent DVD and Blu-ray release date has been set for November 4. Find out what bonus features will be included in the official DVD/Blu-ray set.
Maleficent is one of the year’s biggest box office successes. Following only Transformers: Age of Extinction and X-Men: Days of Future Past, Maleficent has the third highest worldwide box office of the year with $717.6 million to date. It currently ranks as the fourth highest domestic grosser with $234.7 million.
Now that Maleficent is coming to DVD and Blu-ray, the hit will make even more money for Disney, and for good reason. The movie resonated with audiences everywhere, and fans are eager to get their hands on the movie for home viewing.
Maleficent was directed by Robert Stromberg, and it was a divisive film among critics. On the movie review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, Maleficent sports a rotten 48% rating, though it has a 74% audience rating and a similar 7.4/10 user rating on IMDB.

“A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land’s fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal—an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king’s successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom—and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well.”
Maleficent seems to boast a great set of bonus features. Of particular note are the deleted scenes as we’re very curious to see what these scenes include. We were in awe of the visuals in Maleficent, and hopefully these scene will be finished scenes so we can see more of those visuals and Angelina Jolie’s fantastic performance.
Many of the other features sound really interesting too. We’re looking forward to watching “From Fairy Tale to Feature Film” to see how Maleficent came to be. We’re also interested in seeing “Aurora: Becoming A Beauty.” Elle Fanning was great as Aurora and it’ll be great to see a featurette featuring her.
Of course, there’s more we hope will be revealed, as the “And more!” indicates. Like the Fanning featurette, we’d like to see one centered around Jolie, the undisputed best part of the movie. Most of all we’d like to see a commentary so we can get more insight into how the movie was made, scene by scene.
