Mackenzie Davis, known for her role in The Martian, is the latest star to join the Blade Runner sequel.
The sequel for Blade Runner has already cast Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Dave Bautista, Ana de Armas, Carla Juri and Robin Wright with Denis Villeneuve as its director. Now it’s being reported by The Hollywood Reporter that Mackenzie Davis has also joined the cast! Though how big her role will be, or what character she will be playing, is still under wraps.
Not many details have been revealed about the Blade Runner sequel. We do know that Harrison Ford will be reprising his role as replicant hunter Rick Deckard and that it’s set several decades after the original film. It’s also rumored that fans will finally learn if Deckard is really a human or actually a replicant himself. Filming is scheduled to start this summer with the premiere set for October 6, 2017.
In the original film a futuristic dystopian Los Angeles is genetically engineering replicants, which are almost identical to humans. Expert Blade Runner Rick Deckard is ready to retire but agrees to take on one last mission. He ends up discovering Rachael, an experimental replicant who believes herself to be human, and falls in love.
You may know Davis from her work on Halt and Catch Fire, The Martian, and That Awkward Moment.
