Lorde is kicking off New Music Friday a bit early this week! Listen to “Perfect Places” below!
Praise the Lorde! The singer has dropped yet another track off her sophomore album, Melodrama, and we’d go as far as to say it’s her best new track yet!
As with “Green Light,” Lorde worked closely with producer Jack Antonoff to bring “Perfect Places” to life.
Though the Bleachers frontman’s influence is still quite apparent throughout the track, it’s safe to say this is the first of Lorde’s new offerings that feels as though it harkens back to the sound that undoubtedly made us all fall in love with her in the first place.
Like “Green Light,” “Perfect Places” comes equipped with a synth heavy, toe-tapping chorus that’ll undoubtedly be stuck in your head long after your first listen. Even so, it’s the verses that really stand out.
There’s a heavy, rhythmic drum beat that courses through the track as Lorde sings softly about late nights that all feel the same. It’s enough to give anyone listening who’s familiar with Lorde’s previous work major “Team” and “Royals” vibes.
In a way, the sound Lorde has managed to capture on “Perfect Places” feels like a more mature, polished version of what she hit us with on Pure Heroine and that’s incredibly exciting.
Though the “Liability” singer hasn’t been shy about sharing new tracks off her sophomore album, we’ll be counting down the days until Melodrama drops on June 16 so we can listen to the album in full.
