Lady Gaga has announced her new album Joanne will be released October 21.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Beats 1 today from the studio as she finishes her new album, Lady Gaga announced Joanne will be released October 21. Gaga fans will immediately recognize the name as it is a reference to her late aunt as well as Gaga’s middle name.
Gaga has long talked about how she has felt like the reincarnation of Joanne, who was such an influential person within her father’s side of the family. Lady Gaga’s father also runs an Italian restaurant in New York City named Joanne, after his late sister.
Talking more about the naming of the album, Lady Gaga told Zane Lowe that the physical packaging of the album will also include clippings from Joanne and Gaga’s father which include things like photographs, letters and even Joanne’s driver’s license.
She went on to give a few more details about the album including that the standard version of the album will include 11 tracks while the deluxe version will include 14. She also revealed the song she worked on with Father John Misty is titled “Sinner’s Prayer,” and that the album will also feature country and Bollywood references. Previously, Lady Gaga also revealed that she worked with Florence Welch on a song titled “Hey Girl.”
