Fifteen-year-old Cassidy Stay made headlines last month when she quoted Albus Dumbledore at her family’s memorial, and now a report suggests J.K. Rowling responded in the best way possible.

Update: Rowling’s literary agent Neil Blair retweeted an article about this story on Twitter Wednesday afternoon, which is the closest we’ve gotten to an official confirmation about the author’s good deed.

On July 9, Stay’s uncle shot her mother, father, and four younger siblings when he entered their home and wasn’t given the location of his ex-wife. Stay was the only survivor of the shooting because she reportedly played dead after a bullet hit her finger and grazed her skull.

At the memorial service three days after the horrific incident, Stay gave a speech and quoted Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. “‘Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light,’” she said to an audience of supporters. “I know that my mom, dad, Bryan, Emily, Becca and Zach are in a much better place and that I’ll be able to see them again one day.”

The tragic story and her use of Dumbledore’s words grabbed the attention of well-wishers around the world, and word appears to have reached Rowling. According to LDS.net and a Facebook page that wanted to set up a meeting between Stay and Rowling, the Harry Potter author sent an amazing care package.

“This afternoon, I talked to a friend of Cassidy’s who confirmed that J.K. Rowling did, in fact, write her a personalized letter from ‘Dumbledore’ (hand-written with purple ink),” the manager of the page wrote. “She was also sent a wand, an acceptance letter to Hogwarts with a school supply list, along with the 3rd book with JK’s autograph. I’m so excited and ecstatic that we were all able to make a difference! How wonderful.”

In an email to Hypable, a manager of the Facebook page tells us they received this information from a friend of the Stay family.

We’re so happy to see Rowling respond in this way.

The following news report offers a clip of Stay quoting Dumbledore if you’d like to watch for yourself:

Netflix has announced Bill Nye Saves the World, a new talk show slated for Spring 2017.

In a statement, Netflix says “each episode will tackle a topic from a scientific point of view, dispelling myths, and refuting anti-scientific claims that may be espoused by politicians, religious leaders or titans of industry.”

“Since the start of the Science Guy show, I’ve been on a mission to change the world by getting people everywhere excited about the fundamental ideas in science,” said Bill Nye in a press release.

“Today, I’m excited to be working with Netflix on a new show, where we’ll discuss the complex scientific issues facing us today, with episodes on vaccinations, genetically modified foods and climate change. With the right science and good writing, we’ll do our best to enlighten and entertain our audience. And, perhaps we’ll change the world a little.”

Netflix also promises that “In Bill’s unfiltered style, he will bring in special guests, conduct experiments and demonstrations, and ultimately let the facts lead the argument.”

Bill Nye is best known for Bill Nye the Science Guy, the half-hour PBS show that ran from 1993 through 1998.

The theme song is iconic. Science RULES!

The new Netflix series seems like a continuation of Bill Nye the Science Guy, so we’re very excited for the new show to launch in 2017.

The first Sherlock series 4 trailer premiered last month at San Diego Comic-Con, where Cumberbatch teased that “a lot comes home to roost this season… it’s ballsy.” Indeed, the trailer suggests that the characters have a lot to be concerned about. Check it out below:

The new season of Sherlock doesn’t have a premiere date, but it’s expected to launch in late 2016 or early 2017. Perhaps today’s portrait release suggests that some more news is on the horizon!

The last season of Sherlock aired in early 2015, but the busy schedules of Cumberbatch and Freeman have left the show with production challenges.

Coming as absolutely no surprise whatsoever, Netflix is bringing Stranger Things back for a second season!

Can we get a YAAAS?

Netflix’s hugely successful ’80s horror series Stranger Things has been renewed for season 2. The news hit Wednesday morning, and fans are already losing their minds (as well they should).

Here’s Netflix’s official announcement video:

The video plays the show’s eerie theme, over what appears to be the season 2 episode titles: “MadMax,” “The Boy Who Came Back to Life,” “The Pumpkin Patch,” “The Palace,” “The Storm,” “The Pollywog,” “The Secret Cabin,” “The Brain,” and “The Lost Brother.”

Netflix has confirmed that there will be nine episodes of Stranger Things season 2. Writers/creators Matt and Ross Duffer will return, along with executive producers Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen. No news of cast changes yet, although we know that four new characters will be showing up.

We’re stoked to see this awesome series return for a second season. No spoilers, but Stranger Things season 1 kind of ended on a major cliffhanger, which needs to be resolved.

While we’re glad to have official confirmation that the show is returning, there never really was a question, considering the series’ popularity. In fact, we’ve already compiled a list of 60 questions the show needs to answer.

The Duffer brothers have also been pretty candid about their future plans for the series, hinting that season 2 will pick up at least a year after the first season ended. They’re further implying that the show could continue for as many as seven seasons, to mirror Harry Potter and allow us to watch the kids grow up.

“I think we talked like a larger time jump where the kids are older now and it’s a different decade,” Ross Duffer tells EW. “That’s something we batted around from the very beginning. But for us, there’s still more story here, there’s still things that are unresolved.”

But first, let’s wait and see if Stranger Things season 2 can maintain the momentum of season 1. As much as we love Netflix series, they’ve been kind of hit-and-miss with their second seasons.
