Jennifer Lawrence, fresh off Mockingjay, Part 2, is set to make her directing debut with Project Delirium.
Entertainment Weekly recently named Jennifer Lawrence the Entertainer of the Year, and featured an insightful interview to accompany the announcement.
Among other things, Lawrence revealed that she’s looking to add “director” to her bountiful resumé.
And, in her usual style, Lawrence isn’t content with letting it rest on a dream. “I’ve signed on to direct something called Project Delirium — it’s based on this article about mental warfare in the ’60s, like an acid experiment gone terribly wrong,” Lawrence said.
“It’s funny, I’ve wanted to direct since I was 16 and always thought I should start making steps towards that. If I had tried to do it earlier, I wouldn’t have been ready. Now I actually feel ready.”
Some Googling led us to the 2012 article “Operation Delirium,” posted on The New Yorker, which details the horrific experiments done on U.S. soldiers during the Cold War.
The aim was to develop a type of chemical warfare that’d allow the army to, “fight enemies with clouds of psychochemicals that temporarily incapacitate the mind.”

This grim premise doesn’t sound like the comedy which the 25-year-old actress also expressed interest in directing — so she probably (unfortunately) won’t be directing the project she and Amy Schumer are writing and starring in together.
Some exciting things are happening in Jennifer Lawrence’s career post-Hunger Games, and we can’t wait to hear more about Project Delirium!
