Though casting announcements had been quiet over the past couple weeks following the big Sam Claflin/Finnick announcement, Lionsgate has now revealed the latest actor to join the sequel.
Jeffrey Wright will play District 3 victor Beetee in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. “Beetee earns the nickname “Volts” because of his electronics expertise,” writes Lionsgate.
You may recognize Wright from his role as Felix Leiter in the James Bond films Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. He’s also recently been in The Ides of March and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close.
In July it had been strongly rumored that Tony Shalhoub was close to nabbing the role of Beetee.
Additional confirmed newcomers are Jena Malone as Johanna, Amanda Plummer as Wiress, Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch, Lynn Cohen as Mags, Meta Golding as Enobaria, Bruno Gunn as Brutus, Alan Ritchson as Gloss, E. Roger Mitchell as Chaff, and Stephanie Leigh Schlung as Cashmere.
Catching Fire is in theaters November 22, 2013. Filming is slated to begin next week in Atlanta with much of its main cast.
