J.C. Chasez weighed in on the reality show careers of his Mickey Mouse Club pals Tony Lucca and Britney Spears in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, throwing his full support behind Lucca on The Voice and Spears on X Factor.
Tony Lucca’s famous friends are a disadvantage, the former ‘N Sync member and current America’s Best Dance Crew judge told THR.
“I think people are less able to relate to somebody who’s got famous friends,” Chasez said. “It’s a blessing [but] it’s definitely something difficult, as well, because it comes with expectation and you can’t just meet the expectation being in that situation. He essentially has to exceed it.”
As for the possibility of Britney Spears joining X Factor (U.S.) as a judge, Chasez said Spears could have a trouble critiquing contestants because she “really is a sweet girl,” but would be a valuable resource to up-and-coming artists.
“As far as her insight goes… you better listen,” he said. “She’s done it, she’s had a career. She’s not a flash in the pan. She has the experience to deliver.”
Do you think Tony Lucca is at a disadvantage on The Voice? Tune in tonight at 8 p.m. ET on NBC to see the final four perform.
