Game of Thrones and Aquaman star Jason Momoa has teamed up with Netflix for a new series called Frontier, which is set in the 18th century.
Frontier follows Declan Harp (Momoa), a part-Irish, part-native American outlaw who is campaigning to breach the Hudson’s Bay Company’s monopoly on the fur trade in Canada.
“Killing him is not enough,” one character says of Harp. “You must make an example of him. You must make him suffer.”
It looks like Momoa’s character will be causing plenty of suffering along the way as well, as his savagery is something of a legend for the men trying to capture him.
The series has actually already premiered on the Discovery Channel in Canada, but the show was co-produced by Netflix, which means they’ve gotten the U.S. rights for the series. It’ll premiere on January 20 with six episodes.
But don’t feel bitter that the Canadians got something before we did — success of the show means that it’s already been renewed for a second season.
The series was co-created and directed by Brad Peyton (San Andreas).
