Jason Bateman is set to make his directorial debut in the indie comedy Bad Words.
Variety reports:
Sources tell Variety that Bateman will likely play the main character, a bitter thirtysomething who uses a loophole in the system to enter a national kids’ spelling bee. Bateman and Mason Novick will produce with Darko’s Sean McKittrick, Ted Hamm and Jeff Culotta.
The film is written by Andrew Dodge, whose script appeared on the 2009 black list, an industry list of top un-produced screenplays. This will mark Bateman’s first directorial feature, although he has previously directed several episodes of Arrested Development. Are you interested to see Bateman’s directing chops?
