The latest actor to be added to the X-Men universe is Jamie Chung, who will be portraying a known comic book character in the currently untitled Bryan Singer series.
On February 9, we reported that Bryan Singer’s X-Men television series cast its first mutant in Blair Redford, who will play Sam, “the strong-headed Native American leader of the underground network.”
Now, Marvel has announced that Once Upon a Time and Gotham actress Jamie Chung will be taking on the role of Clarice Fong, “a sarcastic and lively tomboy.”
“Clarice’s naturally strong exuberance has taken a hit after a sudden and traumatic upheaval of her life,” Marvel reveals. “As she adjusts to the new people and places that are suddenly ‘home,’ Clarice is slowly becoming herself again. Blink is an established character from the X-Men comics with the power of teleportation.”
Clarice is also known as Blink. We previously saw this character in Days of Future Past, as portrayed by Fan Bingbing.
This currently untitled project (can we just decide on a name already!?) will “focus on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.”
Fox and Marvel will be working on the series together, which is being written by Matt Nix and directed by Bryan Singer.
Jaime Chung has a history of portraying tough and intelligent characters in Mulan and Valerie Vale, and I, for one, am extremely excited to see what she’ll be able to bring to the table for this new X-Men installment.
