Look for Chris Pratt, James Gunn and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 team at San Diego Comic-Con next month!
Considering how Marvel’s amped-up D23 presence affected their SDCC slate last year, it’s great to get confirmation that Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 will indeed be coming to San Diego next month.
In a Facebook Live announcement earlier this week, lead actor Chris Pratt and director James Gunn broke the news, with Gunn stating, “We’re coming to San Diego Comic-Con this year — we’re gonna be there, I’m gonna be there, Chris Pratt is going to be there, a bunch of the gang is going to be there, and we’re gonna show you guys something pretty cool.”
The video also marked Pratt’s last day of filming, which means Guardians production is slowly beginning to wrap up. With only a month until Comic-Con, we’re not sure what they can whip up for us, but hopefully we’re looking at some kind of teaser trailer or sizzle reel.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2, which is set for release on May 5, 2017, brings back Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Vin Diesel (Groot), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Michael Rooker (Yondu) and Karen Gillan (Nebula). It also introduces Kurt Russell, who is presumably playing Peter Quill (Pratt)’s father.
In Chris Pratt’s own words, “This is gonna be the greatest spectacle film of all time.” Considering how brilliant the first Guardians of the Galaxy installment was, we’d expect nothing less! But no pressure or anything.
This year, the San Diego Comic-Con runs from July 21-24.
