Issa Rae of Awkward Black Girl web series fame is coming to HBO with a comedy titled Insecure. And based on this trailer, it’s our new favorite show.
We were all excited when web series star Issa Rae landed a deal to develop a comedy on HBO.
That excitement only grew when we learned that Insecure would be a lot like Awkward Black Girl, her hilarious and relatable web series.

A few weeks ago we learned that the comedy would premiere on HBO in the fall of 2017. Now the first trailer is here, and it’s as funny as we’d hoped. Enjoy!
Issa Rae and Insecure have been getting a lot of love on social media, with Issa Rae tweeting about being “nervous and excited” for the show to premiere:

We were very excited, too, to see none other than Shonda Rhimes herself spread awareness for the new series:

Insecure is a half-hour comedy centering around the “awkward experiences and racy tribulations” of Issa Rae’s character. The eight-episode first season also stars Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis and Lisa Joyce.
The series doesn’t have a premiere date yet, but watch this space. Is it fall already?!
