Although there appears to be little chance that anything short of a catastrophe could stop Iron Man 3 or Robert Downey Jr., an injury sustained to the actor’s ankle has delayed production for a short period of time.

No word yet on when production on the highly anticipated Iron Man threequel and Avengers follow-up will begin, but Disney has released a statement stating that filming will continue when Downey feels fully recuperated.

Robert Downey Jr. sustained an ankle injury on the set of Iron Man 3 in Wilmington, North Carolina while performing a stunt. There will be a short delay in the production schedule while he recuperates.

Thanks to Slashfilm for the update, and let’s wish RDJ a quick recovery, though if he’s anything like Tony Stark he won’t spend much time – ahem – “resting.”
