CinemaCon, the annual gathering of movie theater owners and those involved in the movie-going industry, played host to the first screening of Pixar’s upcoming film Inside Out on Wednesday.
The Inside Out screening was attached to Disney’s CinemaCon presentation, in which the studio showed off trailers for upcoming films, including the George Clooney-led Tomorrowland and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
While reviews of Inside Out are under embargo until the film screens at the Cannes Film Festival next month, we can report the theater was filled with the sounds of sniffles by the end of the 90-minute movie.
Inside Out (opening June 19) follows a young girl and her five emotions — personified by voice actors Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Bill Hader, Phyllis Smith, and Lewis Black — as they move to San Francisco. It’s the first Pixar film since the studio’s Monsters University opened in 2013. Check out a trailer below:
Prior to the screening, the Disney event opened with a montage looking at the studio’s upcoming slate. Notably, the video included the very first footage to be revealed from Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur, which hits theaters this November. The new footage depicted asteroids (which miss the earth in the film, allowing dinosaurs to continue existing) and silhouettes of dinosaurs walking the earth.
In a visual overview depicting Disney’s line-up through 2017, the studio revealed the title art for several major new movies, including animated films Toy Story 4, Moana, Zootopia (Photo via Christina Warren):
While the Inside Out screening was introduced by director Pete Doctor, no stars from any of Disney’s upcoming films were present.
