Seattle-based duo The Scene Aesthetic, sometimes have a hard time classifying the sound of their music.
But if they had to describe their sound, singer Eric Bowley and singer/guitarist Andrew de Torres agree that their music is a mix of country pop-rock with a folky-acoustic twist.
Though there is something to be said about their catchy musical arrangements, what really makes The Scene Aesthetic stand out from most indie rock bands is the way Bowley and de Torres almost effortlessly manage to harmonize their vocals together in all of their songs.
“There aren’t many duos out there that are doing quite what we’re doing with that kinda sound that we have…when we wrote [our first song] we were like, lets just write a song together ’cause we think our voices will harmonize well and when we heard the demo we’re like, this works, this is cool—let’s put it online.”
Listen to our exclusive interview with Eric and Andrew below where they talk about how they formed the band, and what it was like working with producer Marshall Altman (Matt Nathanson, Ingrid Michaelson) on their latest full-length album, Brother.
