With a new director coming into The Hunger Games franchise following a very successful first film, naturally questions have arisen concerning the differences between outgoing director Gary Ross and incoming director Francis Lawrence.
While promoting Jack the Giant Slayer with Digital Spy, Stanley Tucci (who plays Caesar Flickerman) became the latest actor to describe the differences between the two gentlemen.
“Gary I think did an amazing job on the first movie,” said Tucci. “They’re very different directors, but I think Francis is maintaining – without question – the integrity of those characters and being very true to the book – as true to the books and screenplay as possible. I think he’s a very wonderful director. Gary’s very talkative and gregarious and Francis is very quiet.”

In recent months, other actors involved with the series including Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss) have chimed in on the comparisons. “I really like his take, which is a lot of what I liked in Gary Ross,” referring to the visions Francis Lawrence had for the project. “It’s the realistic grasp of the story instead of all the details of the imaginary things.”
