Time to find out what your friend’s friend’s HBO Go password is again. Apple TV has just unveiled HBO Go and ESPN for the set top device.
Those with Apple TV will see the two new apps available on their systems today. HBO Go functions the same way its iOS counterpart does. HBO Go can only be used by those who have an active subscription to the HBO service through their cable provider.
“HBO GO and WatchESPN are some of the most popular iOS apps and are sure to be huge hits on Apple TV,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. “We continue to offer Apple TV users great new programming options, combined with access to all of the incredible content they can purchase from the iTunes Store.”
In addition to those two offerings, Sky News, Crunchyroll and Qello were also added to Apple TV. Sky News is available to those in the United States, United Kingdom, and Ireland. Crunchyroll is exclusive to Japan and features anime. Qello is available worldwide for music lovers.
Rumors of HBO Go coming to Apple TV first surfaced months ago. The service is a natural addition to Apple TV, but consumers are hoping that one day we won’t have to pay for cable in order to subscribe to HBO Go.
