Following a few days of teasing on Twitter, a writer for Latino-Review reported this morning that Harrison Ford is set to return as Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode VII.

The move comes as a welcome one to those who enjoyed the original Star Wars, The Return of the Jedi, and The Empire Strikes Back. This news has not yet been confirmed by Disney or Lucasfilm, and considering how long Latino-Review sat on the scoop, it may take a while longer for the news to be formally announced. There’s no indication of whether or not this will be a lead role, a supporting role, or just a cameo.

Star Wars: Episode VII will be directed by J.J. Abrams, and they are still early on in the planning process for the highly-anticipated return of the franchise. The screenplay is being penned by Michael Arndt, and in a reader-submitted piece on Hypable you can learn why this duo will make a great film.

If recent rumors are to be believed, this may not be the only film Ford returns for. Reports indicate that Disney is also developing standalone Star Wars films focusing on characters Boba Fett and a young Han Solo. We could absolutely imagine a standalone Han Solo film with, at the least, a small cameo from Ford for old times’ sake.

Episode VII is expected to debut in 2015, but Abrams has reportedly made clear that there’s a chance it’ll get delayed.

Thanks, Latino Review.
