Howard the Duck made an appearance during Guardians of the Galaxy’s after-credits scene, and Marvel are now planning to release a comic book sequel explaining the character’s appearance.
Guardians of the Galaxy’s after-credits scene received mixed reviews from fans of the film, as many didn’t know who Howard the Duck was, or why he was in the Collector’s room. Now, Marvel plans to explain how Howard ended up in the Guardians’ storyline with the second issue featuring the famous duck.
The comic book will be released in April, and Marvel have revealed that, “Howard’s first big case has taken him across the universe and landed him in the clutches of The Collector! But he’s not alone as the very popular Rocket Raccoon is a prisoner as well! Have you ever seen a comic book sequel to a post-credits scene in a movie? Well, you will now!”
The new issue will be written by Chip Zdarsky, while the artwork for the issue will be created by Joe Quinones. The cover of the issue will feature Guardians of the Galaxy members, including Gamora and the gang making a “duck” face in a bit of irony.
It’s normal to see comic books accompanied with their respective movies, but this is the first time we’ve seen Marvel make an issue based on the after-credits scene from one of their films. Their post-credits scenes continue to be highly anticipated, and we imagine many fans will be interested in finding out Howard the Duck ended up stuck in the Collector’s room.
