After all the rumors swirling about the release of Grand Theft Auto 5, Rockstar Games has confirmed it will launch in next spring for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
This is the first time the developer has spoken publicly about the release date for the anticipated next entry in the GTA series since it was announced in October 2011, though speculation has run rampant since.
Hints of the game’s release window were leaked earlier this week when photos of European promotional posters with the spring 2013 date were seen online.
Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto 5 will start on November 5 for all retailers, according to the developer.
Note that the release window only applies to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. There is no update for the PC or Wii U versions of the game, if they are even being developed.
Though updates have been scarce since its announcement, more information on the title is expected to be released in the coming months, most notably in the form of the cover story in this month’s issue of Game Informer.
Developed by Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto 5 is set the developer’s version of Southern California called Los Santos, the “largest and most thriving game-world we have ever created,” says the company.
Rockstar has released a title during the release window, more specifically the month of May, for the past three years with Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire and this year’s Max Payne 3.
