It was all about weddings on tonight’s episode of Glee. That’s right “weddings” as in more than one!
Don’t let the title “A Wedding” fool you – there was more than one wedding on tonight’s episode of Glee.
The episode begins with Brittany, Santana, their moms and Artie walking into a barn that turns out to be the barn where Brittany was born. It also turns out to be the place where the two of them will get married. Brittany’s mom recounts exactly how Brittany was born: by accident and eventually licked clean by a nearby cow. Time goes by as everyone helps set everything up for the big Brittana wedding!
In the next scene we get to see Santana and Brittany try on really beautiful wedding dresses while Rachel, Mercedes and Tina give them a yes or a no. Brittany finally lands on one when Santana comes out and notices. Brittany freaks out because she’s worried Santana seeing her in the dress before the wedding is bad luck. Back in the choir room, there’s a debate about whether or not Sue should come to the wedding. “No. Hell no. If she’s there then I’m not,” says Santana dramatically.
Kurt breaks the news to Walt that he’s going to go to the wedding with Blaine. Walt realizes it’s a sign that he loves Blaine and tells him to “go toward love.” We cut to Kurt running in the middle of the road, (like a dream…wait, is this a dream sequence!?) to Blaine’s apartment. Kurt rushes Blaine into the apartment and says that he loves him and still loves him. “There’s no one else,” says Blaine as he grabs Kurt’s face and kisses him.
Tina gathers Blaine, Puck and Artie to ask what they think about her interest in proposing to Mike Chang. As a reminder Tina isn’t dating Mike and as far as anyone knows they haven’t even seen each other in a while. Puck and Artie are against it but, Blaine, randomly, finds it “romantic.”
Sue tells Santana that she’s offended that she wasn’t invited to the wedding. Santana reminds her that every time she has come to a wedding she has been ridiculously selfish.
At the wedding, everyone is all dressed up, with a lens glow, as they prepare for the big moment. Kurt and Blaine reminisce about Burt and Carol’s wedding as they think of what could have been between the two of them. Meanwhile, Santana reminds Brittany that not seeing each other before the wedding is an archaic, heteronormative tradition about arranged marriages that they don’t need to subscribe to, when out of nowhere Sue Sylvester shows up.
Sue comes bearing gifts – Santana’s abuela. “I was wrong,” says Santana’s grandmother to her. “Family is the most important thing in the world,” she tells her teary-eyed.
Later, Brittany and Sue lure Blaine and Kurt into a room with two black tuxedos. She says that she thinks they should get married with them as well given how inspiring they were to her and Santana. Kurt is all like, “OMG no! This is crazy…right, Blaine?” But Blaine is all like, “I mean……..I love you, so….”
The ceremony begins and Mercedes sings “At Last” as Kurt escorts Brittany down the aisle followed by Blaine and Santana. Everyone slowly realizes this isn’t just Brittany and Santana’s big day anymore.
The two couples exchange vows and just like that Brittana and Klaine are married on Glee.
We repeat: Brittana and Klaine are married on Glee.
In a clear trolling of the Klaine and Brittana fandoms, Santana gives everyone “OTP” hats before they all sing and perform Outkast’s “Hey Ya.” This scene is pretty much just filler but it was great seeing Heather Morris and Harry Shum, Jr. dance together again while Kevin McHale sings Outkast.
As Mike Chang casually walks by and says hello to Tina, she stops him and awkwardly proposes to him. Mike, being the smart guy that he is, says no. Mike reminds her that they don’t know where they will be in a year but that he loves her. They exit the scene muttering about how ridiculous it is which makes everyone, including us watching at home, feel a lot better about Tina’s level of sanity.
Back at the reception, the Trouble Tones reunite and sing “I’m So Excited,” with a little help by the moms of Finn, Brittany, Santana and Blaine as well as a dance break by none other than Sugar Motta herself.
Towards the end of the ceremony, Blaine and Kurt dedicate a performance to all the couples in the room. Santana, Brittany, Blaine and Kurt sing “Our Day Will Come” as Rachel and Sam take the dance floor with everyone else thusly confirming their relationship.
Later, back in the choir room, Artie sets up wine and cheese with Tina as they talk about Tina’s random proposal to Mike. Artie comes up with the idea to make a pact that if they aren’t married by the age of 30 they will marry each other. “I officially accept your invitation to be your backup fiance,” says Tina. This could be trouble.

Sue brings Klaine and Brittana to the auditorium to give them more gifts: resort homeymoon vacations. Klaine are going to Provincetown but Brittana are going to the Bahamas. They all accept the offers but it’s clear that Klaine were not as impressed.
This episode was a little bizarre for a lot of reasons. On one hand we want to be excited that two of the fandom’s favorite couples are finally married, in one big happy celebration. On the other hand, it’s sort of weird that they would share this moment together. Only a few episodes ago, Kurt and Blaine were still very rocky and on uncertain terms. Unfortunately, this episode is one of a handful of episodes that have fallen victim to the rushed final episodes of the series. In other words, the marriages had to be done, and there was only so much time to do it.
What did you think of Glee’s episode “A Wedding?” Was this a joyous occasion or more like two weddings and a funeral?
