Glee’s show runners are considering moving at least some part of the show to Russia next year for season 6.
The information comes from E! News who are reporting from someone who has an inside look at the current brainstorming session happening with Glee:
“We are mulling around the idea of moving Kurt to Russia,”
Russia has been the center of controversy in the last several months after anti-gay legislation was signed into law prohibiting “homosexual propaganda” from being displayed in any way in the country. Could Kurt be moving to Russia to help liberate the country from its current discriminatory laws?
Earlier this season on Glee, Blaine made a subtle quip about Russia’s stance on homosexuality.
This week we also learned that Glee could potentially be moving the plot of the show entirely to New York City in favor of Kurt, Rachel and Santana and saying goodbye to the halls of McKinley High School and Lima, Ohio forever.
According to the same source, there is allegedly a third idea being brought to the table regarding the plot of Glee and its future, but no word on what exactly that could be. Could Glee be seeding out these ideas early to get a sense of what fans think about them before they make any hard decisions?
E! News has also confirmed that regardless of where the sixth and final season of Glee is located, the production of the show will remain in Los Angeles where it has been based since its incarnation five seasons ago.
With Kurt’s recent engagement to Blaine and his continuing growth with his own identity and confidence over the last 5 seasons of Glee, it may be interesting to see him go to Russia and lead some sort of revolution for Russian LGBT people.
What are your thoughts about Glee potentially heading to Russia for season 6?
