Glee season 5’s cast and crew held a private memorial on Thursday for their friend and co-star Cory Monteith in the wake of his death.
“Ryan Murphy and Lea Michele gathered the cast, crew and producers of Glee, along with colleagues from the network and studio, to share memories and music in an emotional celebration of the life of Cory Monteith. We thank the public for their continued outpouring of love and support as we grieve our friend and colleague during this difficult time,” said 20th Century Fox in a statement released afterward.
In a video interview conducted by paparazzi a few hours after the memorial, co-star Jane Lynch described the memorial as “beautiful” and added that it was “nice to be together again” with the cast following Monteith’s July 13 death.
No other details about the memorial were shared, but given the musical talents of many of the cast, we’re sure the memorial had lots of music.

In interviews last week, creator Ryan Murphy revealed that the third episode of Glee season 5 will be a tribute to Monteith. It is not clear at this time how the character of Finn will be written out of the show, but since they will be acknowledging Monteith’s passing in the storyline, it’s presumed that Finn will die.
Fox announced that Glee season 5’s premiere date has been pushed back one week to Thursday, September 26.
