George Clooney and Hugh Laurie got to reprise their iconic roles as Dr Ross and Dr House, respectively, for a Jimmy Kimmel Live! performance.
It’s like our 13-year-old selves’ wildest fanfic dreams came to life: Jimmy Kimmel (who may or may not have written said fanfic) had George Clooney on his show, and staged an ER “reunion”… except none of Clooney’s former co-stars were available, so they had to send for another doctor:
In the sketch, Clooney and Laurie got to revisit their old characters and poke a little fun at the hospital drama genre (as well as Clooney’s former cast mates). It’s clear that both actors had fun with the material, which is always great to see!
Of course the delightful joining of Dr Ross and Dr House doesn’t exactly result in much doctoring, but we do get the enjoyment of watching Clooney and Laurie riff on what was most definitely not in the script. And if you stick around to the end, don’t miss Laurie’s little dance as Clooney performs CPR on Kimmel to “Rapper’s Delight.”
Reunions are all the rage right now, but we don’t think crossover potential is being explored as much as it could be. Considering how epic it was to see Dr House and Dr Ross on the same screen (as silly as the sketch was), we kind of hope this is the beginning of a beautiful Hospital Show Cinematic Universe (HSCU).
