This week’s Geek Gifts sheds light on some Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. alien carvings and an X-Files altar candle.
Geek Gifts is a weekly feature article written by Donya Abramo and Karen Rought. With every installment, the duo picks out a fandom-related item they’ve recently come across and describes it in loving detail. There are no product placements here. We only talk about items we’re excited to share with the rest of the world.
Your Geek Gifts come in a variety of ways, be it jewelry, clothing, games, or something else entirely. We strive to remain unbiased, and we plan on constantly expanding our own horizons as we search for new and interesting pieces. The only requirement is that it must give us the burning need to open our wallets and throw money at its creator.
Ah, the good ol’ days of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. when Agent Coulson was still scribbling his mystery symbols on every available surface, Simmons hadn’t been eaten by a giant rock, and everyone was fine and nothing hurt. Well, okay. There was still some hurt. Thanks for that, Hydra.
What better way to celebrate S.H.I.E.L.D.’s return to our screens than with a t-shirt that merges the two major teams on the show — the Inhumans, headed up by Skye, and S.H.I.E.L.D. itself.
We love that the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo is cleverly made out of the map of the Inhuman ruins, a very specific nod to the show that astute fans will immediately get the reference to — and everyone else will just think it’s a neat pattern.
Of course, if t-shirts aren’t for you, the design also comes on everything from travel mugs to duvet covers. God bless Red Bubble, and their uncanny ability to aid our search of fandom-related goodies to take over every aspect of our lives.
I’m new to the world of X-Files despite the fact that it aired over 20 years ago. But it’s already obvious to me that Dana Scully deserves to have an altar built to her badassery.
And, hey, look! Now you can literally build an altar to Dana Scully’s badassery.
Thanks to this Etsy user, you can get an image of Dana Scully on a traditional prayer candle. her image features bees, Mars, UFOs, and flowers, plus a banner that says, “Our Lady of Common Sense.”
But it gets better. You can match this with a Mulder candle, and build an altar to X-Files in general. Plus, Scully’s design is part of the Feminist Icon Series!
Light a pair of these and play that X-Files trailer over and over and over again.
Will you be proudly wearing ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s’ logo or lighting a candle for ‘X-Files’?
