The trailer for 42, which tells the inspiring true story of baseball legend Jackie Robinson, has been released!
42 tells the true story of how Jackie Robinson, the first African American to play Major League Baseball, was signed to play second base for the Brooklyn Dodgers. The film follows the hardships Robinson went through as well as America’s reaction to the breaking of the color barrier in the MLB. Up and coming actor Chadwick Boseman portrays Robinson alongside Harrison Ford, who stars as the Dodgers manager Branch Rickey. Rickey signed Robinson into the MLB.
Boseman starred in the film The Express with Rob Brown and Dennis Quaid. Ford was last seen in Cowboys & Aliens last year with Daniel Craig, and will be seen next year in the film adaptation of Ender’s Game with Asa Butterfield (Hugo), Viola Davis (The Help) and Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine). Brian Helgeland is directing 42, and he is best known for writing the screenplay of L.A. Confidential. 42 hits theaters on April 12, 2013, which is just about two weeks after the 2013 MLB season starts.
