Take your first official look at MTV’s new fantasy drama The Shannara Chronicles!
The teaser is epic in scale. It shares more similarities to Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones than to many of the other programs geared toward young adult audiences.
You can take your first look below:
“There’s young love. There’s loss. There’s tragedy. There’s rising to challenges,” executive producer Jon Favreau shares in the video. “The talent that’s been assembled, the variety of locations, the beautiful backdrop of New Zealand, it really establishes the world of The Shannara Chronicles in a way that separates it from other genre tales.”
The teaser debuted at San Diego Comic-Con right before the cast and crew sat down for their first official appearance for the show. Actors Poppy Drayton, Ivana Baquero, Austin Butler, Manu Bennett, and John Rhys-Davies along with author Terry Brooks and executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar were in attendance.
“If this show doesn’t succeed, I don’t know what will. It is magnificent,” John Rhys-Davies shared at the panel. And frankly, if the above is any indication as what’s to come, we couldn’t agree more.
Also unveiled today: The official Shannara Tumblr, and Facebook page. Their Twitter has begun to pick up activity as well, so make sure you check out those sites for exclusive behind the scenes content.
The Shannara Chronicles will be premiering on MTV in January 2016.
