Briefly: Now with a director, E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey movie has set a summer 2014 release date.
Specifically, Fifty Shades of Grey will open in theaters August 1, 2014. For those of you counting, that’s exactly 400 days from today.
The announcement was made via the following graphic on the official Facebook page:
Last week we learned that Fifty Shades of Grey will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson.
Universal has promised earlier this year that they were aiming to release the highly-anticipated book to film adaptation considered “mommy porn” in summer 2014. So far, it looks like the production is going according to plan!
Critics believe the studio is in a race against the clock. While Fifty Shades of Grey’s popularity hit a peak last year, buzz about the trilogy has since waned.
We’ve seen many books have a resurgence in popularity around the time of their film adaptation’s release, and perhaps this trick will work with Fifty Shades.
Fifty Shades of Grey’s movie still does not have its lead stars cast. We do know that Felicity Jones is in consideration for the role of Anastasia Steele, but those discussions are still in the early phases at last check.
