Fast & Furious 6 DVD/Blu-ray is hitting stores tomorrow, December 10, but today we’ll be telling you whether the film is worth picking up and which bonus features you can look forward to if you pick up the film this week.
Before we start this review we’d like to acknowledge the tragic loss of one of the film’s main actors, Paul Walker, who fans now know passed away in a terrible car accident just over a week ago.
Paul Walker was not just a popular actor, but also a beloved friend to many of the cast and crew of the Fast & Furious franchise, including his professional racing team. This past week many fans have been discussing the parallels between his character in the Fast & Furious films and his actual life.
Not only is this a devastating loss to his family and friends, but to fans of this massive franchise that shot to fame, due in no small part to Paul’s likability. There’s no doubt that Fast & Furious 6 would not be hitting store shelves tomorrow without Paul Walker.
We should always keep Paul and his friend Roger in our hearts and keep in mind their tragic accident anytime we think about taking a ride at the expense of ourselves or others.
We wish Paul and Roger’s family and friends the best, and we’re sending positive thoughts to the cast of the Fast & Furious franchise who have been devastated by this tragedy.
It has been announced by the studio that the filming of Fast & Furious 7 has been delayed, and we’ll be sure to let fans know if/when filming resumes.
‘Fast & Furious 6’ Blu-ray Review
Fast & Furious 6 comes out on DVD and Blu-ray December 10, and this franchise is unlike any other because it just keeps on getting better. While there were a few low points during the franchise, this film is certainly a high point.
Fast 6 is an exciting film, with about a dozen characters that have somehow been properly fleshed out. Vin Diesel and crew are back to help Dwayne Johnson after he finds out that his old fling, Letty, is still alive and working for another villainous car crew. She doesn’t remember Dom due to amnesia, and at one point even takes a shot at Dom as she fights off Gal Gadot’s character.
The story is interesting, almost like a hint of Mission Impossible, especially with the european landscapes and accents. There are surprises at every turn and even if you haven’t seen the previous films you can enjoy Fast 6.
The film is a massive improvement from the previous film and while they’re often only seen as a massive CGI/popcorn flick, it does its job well. The film looks beautiful on Blu-ray and the action scenes are incredibly impressive to watch and listen to. Not to mention fans get to watch Vin and Paul take down a tank as it runs over car after car on a beautiful road in Spain.
While the future of the franchise is in limbo due to the tragic death of Paul Walker, we’re hopeful that this franchise will continue as it’s undoubtedly improved over the last decade of filming. Fast & Furious 6 pulled in $788 million at the box office, which is just incredible for this type of film.
Despite it being part of a massive franchise, this film could easily be a stand alone (ignoring the Letty amnesia storyline) and it just goes to show that fans are continuing to eat up the latest Fast & Furious films.
While the target audience may be gearheads and teens, this movie is easily enjoyable for the masses. That includes someone like myself, who I imagine is a bit older than the target audience now, and certainly have developed slightly different tastes than I had when watching the first film back in 2001.

Honoring Paul Walker’s legacy
Universal Studios will also be honoring Paul Walker by supporting his non-profit organization Reach Out WorldWide. With the release of the latest film on DVD/Blu-ray, the studio will be giving a percentage of the proceeds to Paul’s non-profit organization.
Paul Walker’s non-profit focuses on a network of first responders who aid local communities struggling to cope with natural disasters. Paul was actually attending a charity ball for his non-profit when he and friend Roger Rodas died tragically in a devastating car accident just 500 yards from the event.
In related news actress Gal Gadot, who played Gisele Harabo in Fast and Furious, Fast 5, and 6, has been cast as Wonder Woman in the Man of Steel sequel. Gadot will be joining the Batman Vs Superman cast which includes Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman.
The Fast & Furious 6 DVD/Blu-ray, starring Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Joe Taslim, and Luke Evans will hit store shelves tomorrow, December 10, 2013.
