The premiere of the Fargo TV series is less than two months away, and the first official teaser was just released.
April 15 will bring the premiere of Fargo, a TV adaptation of the classic Coen brothers film. The original film Fargo was set in Brainerd, MN and was centered around a character named Jerry Lundegaard who, in an attempt to get money from his father-in-law, hires criminals to kidnap his wife. From there everything else goes wrong.
The new TV series won’t be an exact adaptation of that, but it will keep the same tone of the story. The Jerry Lundegaard character’s name will be changed to Lester Nygaard, and that will be the character Martin Freeman portrays.
Today, the first teaser was released by the FX YouTube account. Check it out:
The teaser doesn’t really give us much insight into what Fargo will be like. What we can tell is that it will be very snowy, much as we’d expect from a Minnesota-set show. The state does have four seasons, but its known best for its brutal winters.
The Fargo cast includes Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton (who we have seen in stills released from the show), as well as Bob Odenkirk, Colin Hanks, Glenn Howerton, Kate Walsh and Oliver Platt.
Though the cast is impressive, the people behind the camera are perhaps even more impressive. Joel and Ethan Coen will be returning to executive produce. Noah Hawley will write the series as well as executive produce. The pilot will be directed by Emmy-winning director Adam Bernstein (30 Rock, Breaking Bad), who will also executive produce. Other executive producers are Warren Littlefield and Geyer Kosinski.
FX announced back in January that the show would premiere on Tuesday, April 15 at 10 p.m.
