Warner Brothers has announced that the first trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will arrive on Tuesday, December 15.
The studio is promising that the “announcement trailer” will “give audiences the first glimpse at a never-before-seen part of the wizarding world created by J.K. Rowling.”
The first synopsis for the film was also released today:
“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
With The Force Awakens opening in theaters only a couple days later, don’t be surprised if the Fantastic Beasts trailer plays on the big screen before you see the seventh Star Wars installment.
Fantastic Beasts opens November 2016 and stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander. The movie is directed by four-time Harry Potter director David Yates, and produced by Harry Potter series producer David Heyman.
The screenplay is by an up-and-coming writer named J.K. Rowling.
