Warner Brothers premiered the first behind-the-scenes look at Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them at “A Celebration of Harry Potter,” and the video is now online.
The three-minute preview offers the very first on-camera interviews and behind-the-scenes footage, plus scenes from the first trailer released in December. Take a look:
Here are a few moments that stood out to me:
– Eddie Redmayne on the film’s plot: “This one catalyst sets in motion this insane amount of events that just cause chaos.”
– The character named Jacob, played by Dan Fogler, is just back from the war and trying to open a bakery when he meets Newt.
– Producer David Heyman explains that each of the four lead characters are outsiders who are “coming into themselves” over the course of the story.
– “It’s funny, it’s moving, it’s thrilling,” Heyman adds.
WB also released a new synopsis for Fantastic Beasts which offers a couple small clues about the plot:
“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
Warner Brothers, J.K. Rowling, Pottermore, etc. are clearly turning the annual “A Celebration of Harry Potter” at Universal Orlando into a destination for big Harry Potter-related unveilings. While previous events have lacked announcements, new spinoffs like Fantastic Beasts, The Cursed Child, and Pottermore are yielding cool opportunities for “Celebration” this year. It reminds me of what Lucasfilm does with Star Wars Celebration, and what many movie studios do at events like San Diego Comic-Con.
Speaking of big unveilings, today at “Celebration” The Cursed Child released a promotional video offering a glimpse inside the stage play’s theater. It’s the first time we’ve seen any video promoting the play which follows Harry and his son Albus Severus, opening this summer at London’s Palace Theater:
And yesterday, Pottermore and J.K. Rowling revealed new information about wizarding schools around the globe.
It’s an exciting time to be a Harry Potter fan!
