Can you imagine Lucious’ face when he finds out about Empire’s new logo? We’ll get to see it ourselves on Empire 2×12, “A Rose by Any Other Name.”
The season 2 premiere of Empire set itself up for the the remainder of the season. Now that Hakeem is the new CEO of Empire he’ll be cleaning up a few things around the house. The obvious first choice is to change the logo from a golden headshot of Lucious to, what else, a golden headshot of Hakeem. Hakeem may want to be nothing like his father but that is definitely a Lucious type of move. We get a glimpse of everyone’s reactions in this first look of, “A Rose by Any Other Name”:
Whoa. Is all that going to be in this one episode? Let’s break that down a bit.
- It looks like Rhonda told Andre about someone pushing her down the stairs. Or maybe he just suspects that someone did? Regardless, Andre went through a traumatic experience and should seek counsel as Rhonda wants. It’s obviously causing a strain on their marriage and he needs to lighten up!
- Next up is the logo reveal and Hakeem’s pitiful reign as CEO of Empire. Oh, Hakeem. What can we say? As Jussie Smollett said in that first look, Camilla is the one who truly holds the reigns to Empire. When she discovers that Hakeem hasn’t let go of Lara, and that they’ve (unfortunately) consummated their relationship, we all know that Camilla will do everything in her power to continue her hold over Hakeem.
- Lucious is asked what he’s prepared to do to get his company back. Well, as he said in the season premiere, he’ll do “what it takes” for Empire. Just like he killed Bunky. Why can’t he just focus on his music?
The synopsis for Empire 2×12, “A Rose by Any Other Name” reads: “With Hakeem acting as Empire’s CEO, Camilla sinks her claws further and further into him. The rest of the Lyon family tries to get him to rejoin their side, but Hakeem has his own plan. Meanwhile, Jamal receives backlash from his fans and Andre and Rhonda’s marriage is tested.”
Empire 2×12, “A Rose by Any Other Name,” airs Wednesday April 6 at 9 p.m. on FOX.
